Every year roughly 200,000 service members leave the military according to the Veterans Adminstration (VA). The VA is one of the largest components of the Federal Govenrment Out side of the Armed Forces and provides a wide array services for Veterans that extends well beyond healthcare. Utilizing PUMs(Public Use Microset) Data provided by the Census Bureau, this project identifies statisitcally significant traits of veterans that do and do not enroll in the VA.
IN PROGRESS In response to COVID-19, the United States Military Academy(USMA) at West Point's Association of Graduates(AOG) has deployed an initiative to make contact with every living graduate. This involved making contact with over 40,000 gradutes. The AOG would like to process the conversations and develop best practices for continued contact.
Collected an extensive training dataset of over 3,000 reference images. Then processed the images through Google Vision AI to identify objects and label image content. Constructed a convolutional neural network using a VGG 16 architecture to identify flood depth based on the submersion of objects for all images that positively identified for flooding and contained a person or truck.
Built and analyzed the publicly available Super Store data set utlizing only Tableau in 48 hours. This project was selected over six other competing analysts for completeness and accuracy.
Utilized linear regression to develop prediction models for Real Estate Prices in Ames, Iowa, based on four years of home sale data. Built 3 models that achieved correlation values (R squared) above 0.9.
Designed a web scraping tool utilized Python to access an API that scraped over 1,000 posts from sub-reddits for Nikon and Canon cameras. Processed the post content using several NLP techniques to include lemmatization, tokenization, and parsing to find trends in the posts. Built models that predict post subreddit origin based on those trends of the language used in the subreddits.
Engaged in three-month program focused on real-world applications of data science principles and best practices including, data acquisition, data cleaning and wrangling, predictive modeling, and visualization strategies. Owned all business intelligence for RE/MAX web properties (i.e., remax.com, remax.net, and remax.collection.com). Solely responsible for monitoring and maintaining the analytic datasets for each international website generated daily. Identified and integrated three orphaned data sources into a SQL based enterprise data warehouse resulting in the ability to monitor agent performance in near real-time with MicroStrategy. Orchestrated the creation of APIs used to ETL enterprise data after generating desire for data among stakeholders and convincing vendors to post data nightly on an FTP server. Built and distributed website performance dashboards to the senior leadership team and presented significant findings to C-level executives. Identified analytical gaps and took corrective action resulting in a 4x increase of data captured and enhancements to customer experience. Increased analytics budget by $90,000 by advocating and utilizing more sophisticated analytical tools resulting in a 3x increase in consumer data value. Consulted with other departments across the corporation on building data sets, using data to drive business decisions, and correcting any loss of data integrity to improve their data quality.
